Pop-Up Salon

I’m looking for a salon or independent technicians who would be interested in a pitch at SOUK, to provide a ‘pop-up’ treatment bar. So our beauty conscious shoppers can get their nails done after a spot of shopping, and I’ll be first in line for eyebrow threading, though sorry lads we won't be offering B, S & C on this occasion!

For pimped up nails have a look at So So Fly Nails.

The next Vivienne Westwood!

As well as shopping at our large selection of Fabulous Vendors, we are giving you the opportunity to have a go at fashion designing. The highly acclaimed Antiform - ReMade in Leeds will be offering free upcycle workshops (more details to follow). There will also be other opportunities to get crafty;  you’ll soon be turning this season’s jumpsuit into next season’s looks.

Clothes Show

I loved seeing my old mate Gok, wondering around the ‘Sknitch’ zone and watching the live show; however the biggest highlight for me was seeing the entrants for the design awards, they were absolutely amazing.
The Clothes Show Design Awards showcase the UK’s young, fledgling and emerging talent. Categories range from young handbag designer, knitwear designer, young blogger, to online stylist of the year. The awards are dedicated to nurturing, supporting and developing the rising talents within the fashion and design industries. I can’t wait to see all of the winners. xxxxx

The 1970's

Two key Spring/Summer 2011 trends are 1970s glamour & boho – think Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall.

Florals are paired with bohemian jumpsuits, trousers are wide-legged and antique lace is contrasted against quilted biker jackets.

At SOUK you will be spoilt for choice with 70’s inspired designs, as well as vintage pieces.

Upcycle

Disposable fashion (or fast fashion) refers to a business model in which shops imitate the look of the latest catwalk trends, but produce it quickly and for a comparatively low cost. Trends rarely last more than a few months therefore people often only wear their new clothes for a short while and then dispose of them to make room for more.

Wikipedia moment -  ‘Upcycling’ is the art of taking something that's going to be thrown away, and transforming it into something fabulous, therefore having a positive impact on the environment, by reducing waste and new consumption.
In a bid to lighten our footprint and to raise sustainability awareness, I would like to encourage vendors who re-cut and transform existing clothes and objects into great new pieces.
